Uninstalling Flash Player 10
Some websites or programs may experience difficulties with the new Adobe® Flash Player 10. Uninstalling Flash Player 10 and reverting back to Flash Player 9 may resolve these difficulties. Consult the remainder of this technical note for additional information.

To re-install Adobe® Flash Player (v9.0.47.0) that will display the test questions properly, please use the following steps:
  1. On the affected workstation, click or navigate to http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1. An Archived Flash Player page will display.
  2. Click on the link Flash Player 9. The file fp9_archive.zip will be downloaded. Save the file to a temporary location on the computer.
  3. Navigate to the location the fp9_archive.zip file was downloaded to and extract.
Note: WinZip® or other ZIP file extraction utility may be necessary.
  4. After extracting the fp9_archive.zip file, navigate to and open the 9r47 folder. The contents of the folder will display.
  5. Install the appropriate file for the Operating System in use. For example, if the Operating System is Windows®, double-click on flashplayer9r47_win.exe and complete the installation.
  6. Launch and use Destination Success™ Math. The content will display as expected.
Unable to Install Previous Flash Player Version

When attempting to revert to a previous minor version of Adobe® Flash Player, the installation may fail. SafeVersions, a system registry security feature, may be preventing the installation of an earlier minor version of Flash Player if a later minor version was installed.

The minor version of Flash Player is the third set of numbers in the version name. For example the minor version for Flash Player (9.0.115.0) would be 115. If Flash Player (9.0.115.0) was installed and it is attempted to install (9.0.47.0), then the installation may fail. This issue is due to registry key settings applied by the Flash Player security model.

Although running the uninstall_flash_player.exe removes Flash Player from the system, it does not remove the minor version associated with the player that was installed. This minor version number is recorded in the system registry under the SafeVersions folder.

WARNING: These changes involve modifying the System Registry. Consult your system administrator or system documentation on making changes to the System Registry prior to making these changes.

Remove the following registry folder:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPayer\SafeVersions

Once this location is removed install the desired version of Adobe® Flash Player.
